Playground Corner: We’re On Our Way!
ONCOR announces an important milestone! The City of New Castle just placed the order for Phase II’s playground equipment. The countdown begins to the playground’s ribbon cutting this Spring!
Over the past several months, ONCOR and the City of New Castle have worked together to discuss and finalize each detail of the Battery Park playground: the equipment, surfacing, sub-surface, drainage, and a protective fence to create an accessible playground that allows all of our kids to play together while retaining the openness of Battery Park.
While we have raised enough for the playground equipment to be ordered, other important elements of the playground like drainage and fencing still need to be funded. ONCOR is now in the final stages of fundraising – and so many of you have answered our call. Special thanks to the Robert S. & Joan F. Appleby Foundation, Norfolk Southern, New Castle Farmers Market, DRBA, TRI-State Community Partners, New Castle County, Delaware City Refinery, South River Plaza, Gary Graham, Kathryn Greto, Daniel F. W. Davis, David Walker, Edith Cashman, Elizabeth Dawson, Deanna Manbeck and Jack Markell — we’ve now raised $1,123,600 of our $1.2 million goal!
