Phase 2: A Playground for Every Child
The Old New Castle Outdoor Recreation Coalition (ONCOR) was founded in 2021 to create great outdoor recreation experiences for New Castle families.
Phase 2 of the Battery Park Playground will bring a fully accessible playground to our town, allowing children of all abilities to play together. It will include a tall ship theme, slides, and wheelchair-friendly surfaces. Visit oncorcoalition.org to learn more!

How the Funding Has Come Together
With grants awarded from the Longwood Foundation, Welfare Foundation, ChristianaCare, National Park Service, Norfolk Southern, Tri-Community Partners, the FY25 Delaware State Bond Bill, and the City of New Castle, ONCOR has raised $775K of the $1.2M budget.

To raise the rest of the funds, ONCOR needs your support! Each week, The Weekly will feature a different piece of playground equipment available for individual or group sponsorship. Businesses and local groups are welcome too — all sponsors will be added to the playground sponsor wall.
